GoodRelations - The Web Vocabulary for E-Commerce

This is the archive of the goodrelations dicussion list

GoodRelations is a standardized vocabulary for product, price, and company data that can (1) be embedded into existing static and dynamic Web pages and that (2) can be processed by other computers. This increases the visibility of your products and services in the latest generation of search engines, recommender systems, and other novel applications.

[goodrelations] GoodRelations, SearchMonkey, eBay

Dear all:

Yahoo just informed me that in principle, GoodRelations and RDFa can be
used to augment eBay pages so that they will show up in www.yahoo.com
with product details, prices, and store info, even though eBay does not
itself support RDFa.

The eBay individual auction pages use murky HTML 4.01 markup; that would
require commitment from eBay to clean up. And the power seller pages at
least use XHTML 1.0 transitional as a doctype, but also contain flaws in
the header / template, so even a well-minded seller could not include
RDFa in a fully compliant way.

But Yahoo will be tolerant to that:

Quote:

"Our extractor does attempt to pull valid RDFa out of murky pages. If
eBay embedded GoodRelations RDFa in their "tag soup" pages, we would
extract it (unless the page is *very* badly malformed, to the point
that it defeats out extractor codec completely)."

So I am waiting for an eBay powerseller to try the recipe at
