I think the current answer is simply that Google does not support images in Rich Snippets for Products at this point. My guess is that they planned this feature originally, because Yahoo also had it at that time, but then dropped it when Google Instant was introduced, because having images in the dynamically updated search results as you type slows down the whole thing.

Using GoodRelations to describe images on your site as products in their own right seems not to be supported by Google at this point neither.

It may not help with google but I was watching this video about seo and video sitemaps and I learned about media rss or mrss which can be used for photos. It also mentions that facebook markup on media gets picked up by yahoo.

I am happy to announce the release of the STI Accommodation Ontology [1]:

  http://purl.org/acco/ns

It provides a very powerful yet simple extension to GoodRelations so that you can expose offers for hotel rooms, camping pitches, vacation homes, huts, meeting rooms, or any other type of accommodation in combination with GoodRelations [2].

The Accommodation Ontology is a result of the Tourism Working Group at STI Innsbruck [3].

Once the ongoing integration of GoodRelations into schema.org is completed, this could also be used as a baseline for a better support of tourism scenarios in schema.org.

Any comments are very welcome!

I need a bit of help, meaning a fresh eye looking at my test Offer page.

I have chosen to use Goodrelations in Microdata syntax.

I linked BusinessEntity with Offering,

and BusinessEntity with POS.

     <link itemprop="http://purl.org/goodrelations/v1#hasPOS"
href="#webshop" />

On Offer page, I used "Include" to link with Individual Product Data.

href="#individual" />

To my knowledge, everything is OK, but I would value your oppinion.

Note that currently, GoodRelations is fully understood by Google in RDFa syntax only.
We are working on Microdata syntax support, but this may be in the form of importing GoodRelations element into the schema.org namespace, see

For the moment (and for professional users in the future), using GoodRelations in RDFa is the much more scalable approach.

It looks as if you assign the URI http://www.w3.org/ns/md#item to many different entities on the same page. You need different ones, though.
