GoodRelationsCompliantSoftware

From Wiki of the E-Business and Web Science Research Group

Jump to: navigation, search

This page lists software applications for which there either is GoodRelations support available, or for which we think it is very desirable.

Important: If you are working on GoodRelations-related software (e.g. import / export interfaces for CMS or Shop software) and want to promote your work on this page, just send an e-mail to mhepp AT computer DOT org and include a URI with more information.

Contents

Search Engines

Goal: Search engines should crawl GoodRelations metadata and include it in their search index. Ideal would be support for both RDF and RDFa.

Currently supported

  1. Yahoo Searchmonkey
    See http://www.ebusiness-unibw.org/wiki/GoodRelations_and_Yahoo_SearchMonkey
  2. Yahoo SearchMonkey infobar: http://gallery.search.yahoo.com/application?smid=NAo.s

Ongoing Work

  1. Google: Ongoing discussions with Google on how GoodRelations data can be used to improve Google.
    See http://www.ebusiness-unibw.org/wiki/Rdfa4google

Desirable

  1. Bing

Web Shop Software

Goal: Web Shop software should create GoodRelations data, both as individual RDFa embedded in the pages and a complete RDF/XML data dump. Also, they should support the import of product model data from manufacturers' Web pages. The simplest approach is adding RDFa markup to a) the "about" or home page and b) the page for individual items. Examples of RDFa patterns are given in the GoodRelations Cookbook.

Important: If you are a software vendor or an independent developer and provide GoodRelations support for a shop solution, we can offer to put a link to you here. Just contact Martin Hepp at mhepp@computer.org.

Currently supported

  1. osCommerce Web Shop Software
    1. RDF/XML and RDFa export: http://code.google.com/p/goodrelations-for-oscommerce/ (Thanks to Alexander Stolz!)

    1. RDF/XML and RDFa export: http://code.google.com/p/goodrelations-for-joomla/ (Thanks to Alexander Stolz!)
  3. Intershop Enfinity: Intershop recently completed an internal feasibility study and prototype of RDFa and RDF/XML export for their Enfinity series. The
results are unfortunately not yet available to the general public, but in case you are an Intershop client with Semantic Web interests, it
would not hurt to ask them...
  4. Oxid eSales: There is a template-based extension available.
A live Web shop running on Oxid eSales with GoodRelations meta-data export is at http://tr.im/vIhk (Thanks to Daniel Bingel!)
We will provide the necessary components and instructions at http://www.ebusiness-unibw.org/wiki/GoodRelations4Oxid.

  4. Ubercart/Drupal:
    • We are in contact with Ryan Szrama (ryanDOTszramaATgmailDOTcom) regarding GoodRelations support for the Ubercart component

Desirable

Hint: A quick way to generate basic GoodRelations data can be using the Google Feed Converter to turn feeds for Google, which many software packages can create off-the-box, into RDF/XML.

Content Management Software

Goal: Content management systems should support the creation of GoodRelations annotations as RDFa in the authoring process by providing widgets or forms (e.g. for business entities, shop locations, products, and services); this is mainly important for CMS systems that are used by businesses for maintaining their Web presences.

Important: If you are a software vendor or an independent developer and provide GoodRelations support for a CMS solutions, we can offer to put a link to you here. Just contact Martin Hepp at mhepp@computer.org.

Sponger Cartridges for Virtuoso

Virtuoso from OpenLink Software is the home of the upcoming Linked Open Commerce data space. With so-called "Sponger Cartridges", one can dynamically import data from other sources into that space and convert them on-the-fly into GoodRelations data. Several such cartridges have already been deployed.
